Man, I could be taking the best photos tonight at a party in the Graceland Suite of the Heartbreak Hotel, but instead I’m going to bed early for tomorrow’s training shift and a meeting with corporate brass. I could go to the party but I’d be pushing my limits. I’d risk missing my alarm clock. I’d risk showing up to the meeting in a hangover cloud smelling of beer-soaked kitsch and leisure suit sweat. At least I’d go in with a smile on my face. But I’m taking the safe road. I’m getting old. Not age old. Boring old. The kind of old that some elderly people never get. Where has my sense of adventure gone? And for that matter, how long HAS it been gone anyway?

I’d hoped the pictures would accompany an epic post, a grand re-entrance into the blogging side of Project 2010. I’ve been gone a while, and I figured I’d treat this place nice like a boyfriend when I got back. But no dice.

So to make myself feel better about my boring night and my failed grand entrance, here’s a consolation prize. Another kind of failed grand entrance. To remind us of what can happen when people let their sense of adventure get the best of them. They run people over. And also to remember, as you’ll see in the clip, how some elderly people never really get Old. Welcome me back, won’t you?

She-Wolf Vs. He-Wolf

Right here at the bitter end of 2009, I’ve realized I’ve made a huge mistake. A grievous error. I wasted the whole year. It’s a tragedy, truly.

My biggest regret in a year of colossally regretful events is that it took me all year to see the video for Shakira’s single “She-Wolf” and its vastly more entertaining parody video, “He-Wolf.”

I strongly suggest watching these videos unless you are lame and don’t like laughing. Or men prancing about in their briefs (spoiler alert!: he’s a dude and he made a Shakira parody video AND he’s gay!). These videos aren’t exactly NSFW, but they’re not exactly SFW either, due to the whole scantily-clad-people-writhing-around-unsexily-and-inexplicably-singing-that-they-are-werewolves thing. So, uh, fair warning if people at your office start looking at you weird after this. Also, thanks to Hecklerspray for posting about this in a much funnier way.

My writing veins have bled pulverized stone for a month. But I’ll send this blip into the atmosphere. I’m a sucker for Michael Cera (me and everyone else, right?) and I know the filmmakers knew JUST what they were doing when they cast him in “Youth in Revolt,” a movie about a nerdy, timid kid constructing a hard-rolling alter ego to help him get the girl. And I know the filmmakers meant for THIS to happen too, but even his bad persona is adorable. That mustache? C’mon.

People not in the Michael Cera fan club should watch too. It’s worth it.

The latest video from Improv Everywhere, a group of NYC-based “undercover agents” who, well, do improv everywhere. In public around people who don’t expect it. This one is a musical and although entertaining throughout, it breaks the ‘awesome’ threshold right around the 2:15 mark.
