With not a single file lost. Thanks to… Man, Newegg.com is awesome. I ordered my computer Wednesday night. It was on my doorstep on Friday afternoon, and this was *without* rush delivery. That’s how a company should be run, people. I’m pretty excited about this new machine. The technology is two years old and is quite slow by the standards of 2010. But for [...] I was still computer-less on Tuesday. Ever since the Great Electronic Death of 2010 a few days earlier, I’d been using the Wii’s Internet Channel out of desperation. No Internet at work, no Internet at home, no Internet-enabled phone. I was in dire straits. Don’t get me wrong; I’m grateful to have the Internet on [...] Today is Monday, February 15. My hard drive survived, the part I needed arrived today, and now I am catching up the blog. Bear with me for there will be many posts, and probably none of them will be that interesting since I’m rushing to catch up. Anyway, so Saturday night after I wrote my post [...] I’m back, but not completely. The computer finally died for real a week ago. Kaput. Done. Deceased. Taking a dirt nap with baby Jesus. I got a new one on Friday (spending money = boo! not crashing every few months = yay!) but I am waiting until Tuesday to resume Scribblescrawl. That’s when I get a [...] There’s always computer trouble. This afternoon, something in this here machine sounded like a weedeater chomping on a metal trash can for about twenty seconds. Then all the drives took a nap. My computer genius friend (Hi Dan) troubleshot until I ended up with this configuration, which is my main (working, thank the little baby Jesus [...] Probably no surprise considering I got home and went to bed at 5 a.m., I woke up pretty late. Then I spent most of my waking hours getting wildly frustrated while installing a new video card in my computer. After hours of tinkering and calling a friend for advice (I know it shouldn’t have taken [...] Day 38 was yesterday, Wednesday, Feb. 11. It was a wild and crazy workday, starting with me being late to work again, getting busted, then being late to an appointment, then sitting awkwardly with corporate sales people wearing diamonds in a crummy East Memphis CK’s (but I DID get some delicious delight out of watching [...] Finally I’m back up and running at the homestead. Opened the box, plugged in, ta-da! Easy peasy. It does seem to be slowing my computer though. And I have to buy new speakers, which I just realized.
